God wants us to go to church so we have not only the social interaction with other people that believe in God but friends that can help us through life’s trials. No one has a perfect life because the world is not perfect.Things happen in the world that cause bad things to happen. Bad things happen to good people. Someone could be at the wrong place at the wrong time or at the right place at the wrong time. No matter what it is, life is hard. But God created us to help each other and make our lives easier.
I have chosen to be a christian because life is hard and cannot be lived alone, without some kind of Divine assistance. I define the christian identity as believing in a Higher Being who is greater and stronger than me, who created me and loves me like no one else can, protects me like no one else can and wants only the best life He can give me. People have asked me why I believe in God. I always say it’s because He has been there for me when I have needed Him. I had bacterial meningitis twice, one time the doctor told me was worried that he was going to “lose me” and both times I survived. I have five children, one of them spent some time in jail and one of them has been raped, another one ran away for several weeks and we had no idea where she was. And two of them give us no problems at all. I can’t tell you how much time I have spent on my knees praying for myself, my marriage and my children. Numerous times I have felt warmth surround me to tell me that He is crying right along with me. In addition, He has provided babysitting so I could go to court or money from friends or help from family members so that we could get through whatever crisis was happening at the moment.
This is the rule that has shaped my behavior and my life, “love one another” and treat others as you would want to be treated. That's what the Bible and God teaches us and that is how I have lived my life.
