We have some very tall trees in the yard, 20 or 30 feet high. So naturally the birds flock there to nest, socialize and live. Sometimes the noise of their squawking is loud and annoying. But today I saw the trees and heard the birds chatter in a new way: I saw these trees and birds as God's work in our lives. Most days we ignore them (Him) and just go about our day not thinking about (Him) the noise or what is going on around us. But the birds are working on their lives and doing things we can't see, which is what God does. He is always working somewhere, somehow for our good, or the good of others. I saw the birds flying from one tree to another or off to get food. And I know from the noise they are making that there are so many birds in these trees there is no way I could count them (like the many ways that God works in our lives.)
This experience has made me more aware of the birds in the trees and also of God's presence in my life. I definitely need to pay more attention to Him and His working in my life. It is so easy to get preoccupied with the mundane and forget that we called to His purpose whether it be parenthood, career or care-giving.
Next week, I'll go back to my study of Jude but I felt God telling me to write about my experience today.Click here to start reading about Jude.
Click over to my Bible journaling page for some pics of my artwork or Stephs books to see what else I've written. God bless you!
I leave you with Paul's wish for the Philippians, and my wish for you: “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation, the right righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ, for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” Phil. 1:11
